Pistolena carries an awesome pedigree on both the sire and dam side.
Both
sides are rich in foundation breeding but also include a modern twist
for a great combination. Included are: Freckles Playboy, Doc O’lena,
Smart Little Lena, Sugar Bars, Rey Jay, Doc Bar, Poco Bueno, 3 Bars and
the great King.
Pistol, as we like to call him, is passing on his great disposition
and work ethic in
a package that is 2nd to none. His colts are easy to
start with a lot of cow sense
and athletic ability. They are being used
on ranches and in the arena
with great success .
He is quick, catty and loves to work cows. In the winter Pistol is in
Texas going to cuttings and pennings
and doing what he likes to do best – work
cows. In the summer he is in South Dakota with his band of
mares, running
free and enjoying the good life.
Young Gun, Pistol’s sire, has quickly climbed to #20 of cutting’s
top 30 sires. He
is by Freckles Playboy (#3 of the top 30 sires) and Leanette, the 1975 NCHA
Open Futurity Champion and one the top producing mares of all time.
We strongly believe that Pistol will be producing winners for us not only
in both the cutting and working cow horse classes but also in the rodeo arena
or the show ring.
Pistol’s son, trained by Dave Schaffner of Lampasas, Texas, was one
of the high selling horses at the SA Stock show in 2006.
